Other Things About Me:
We have sponsored a child through Compassion International for nearly 8 years now, and as of this year I became a child advocate with Compassion. My desire is to speak up for children in poverty around the world who cannot speak up for themselves, who have no global voice and to join in the fight against poverty by partnering Compassion to release children from poverty in Jesus' name. We now sponsor 4 children, and it has been a great experience for our whole family, because I am able to teach our children how truly blessed and fortunate to live where we live and have what we have. I am passionate about teaching our children to have a compassionate heart and care about the things and people that Jesus cared about. I want our kids to grow up with a realistic world view, and what their place is in this world and what God expects from each of us as far as our interactions/relationships with the poor, oppressed, widow, orphaned.

I would love to come to your church and share Compassion's ministry with you and your congregation/group! If I am not able to come, I can place you in contact with those in your area who could!

Dear Melissa,
Greetings to you.Just as it is in America its here in Africa.People do not just give you the money because you help the needy. Its only God who can touch their hearts to do so and it is every where in the world.God is our source we should only focus on Him.All the people in Africa,America,China name it are only instruments used by the source. When people do not give to what we claim to be a worthy course then we should check ourselves first not blame any one or try to force them to understand.

Please pray for my brother...

Hi all. I would very much appreciate your prayers for my brother right now, His name is Neal, and he was skydiving in Norfolk, Va, where he lives, and had a mishap and slammed into a church building last Saturday, and he's in the hospital in serious condition. He has several broken bones including his skull, ankle, leg, and is in a LOT of pain. He also is coming in and out of reality mentally, which means sometimes he understands what happened, and sometimes he doesn't which complicates everythi… Continue

The "Love Anyways" people...

In life, there are people who are difficult to love. We know God commanded us to do it, but he also created people with different personalities, different motivations in life, etc. Therefore, naturally some will clash with others. Those are your 'difficult to love' people. With those in our lives that are difficult to love, it's just a tad easier to see the bad instead of the good. To let little things about them bother us. To not give them as much patience as we give those who are easier for us… Continue

The neverending battle???

I spent some time thinking today about how common it is for kids to have a damaged self-esteem. I believe I was one of those kids growing up. Due to family issues, I feel like it's been a neverending battle from when I was little to NOT believe the lie that I am not good enough. I don't want to go into too much detail, just because I'm not trying to write a book! :) But there are definite instances I can remember that I know contributed to the way I view myself, and for most of my life, I've had… Continue

My heart hurts.... and he is gone.....

Today I got some very bad news. As many of you know, I sponsor children through Compassion International. We have been a sponsor to one particular boy, Majyambere James for almost 8 years now. We started sponsoring him when he was about 6 years old. Over those past years I got to develop a special relationship with him through letters, pictures, cards, etc. Today I found out that Majyambere past away on or around July 10th, from what, I don't know yet. He was only 14 years old.

I still remember… Continue

Christmas- What would Jesus buy?

Got an assignment for ya... rent or somehow watch the documentary What Would Jesus Buy?. Why? Because, we need to think about what Christmas is really supposed to be all about. This year, after watching that documentary, along with..well..just the journey God has been taking my heart on the last year, we are changing what we do and how we handle Christmas. Here is what it will look like for us:

1.We are going to spend half of what we did for Christmas last year. That means some gifts might be h… Continue
